Introducing Task Management: Elevating Building Operations and Safety with Operance

As a cornerstone in the building operations and safety industry, we are thrilled to announce our newest feature, Operance Task Management, which will be introduced to our user base over the next two weeks as a phased release. This latest feature has been meticulously designed to revolutionise task organisation, assignment, and monitoring in building management, paving the way for heightened efficiency and enhanced safety standards.

Seamless Task Management

Task management introduces a user-friendly interface that simplifies the process of task delegation. Project managers can now assign tasks effortlessly with real-time percentage updates, ensuring clear communication of expectations and resulting in a high-quality standard of work. This feature eliminates misunderstandings and expedites task completion, which is vital in the dynamic environment of building operations.

Key Enhancements in Building Operations:

  • Efficient Resource Allocation: By prioritising tasks based on urgency and importance, our latest feature ensures that resources are utilised where they’re needed most, reducing downtime and maximising operational output.
  • Proactive Maintenance Management: The ability to proactively schedule and track maintenance tasks helps prevent potential issues before they escalate, ensuring that building systems operate smoothly and reliably.
  • Enhanced Communication and Coordination: Task management fosters a more coordinated approach to building operations. With features that facilitate clear communication and task delegation, it ensures that all team members are aligned and working towards common operational goals.
  • Realtime Percentage Updates: Receive real-time updates on the tasks you have delegated so that you can actively track their progression and see when they are completed. Navigate to task management and proactively track everyone’s progress.

Real-Time Progress Tracking

Task management goes beyond mere assignment; it offers real-time progress tracking for each task. This feature allows managers and teams to stay updated on task completion rates, offering valuable insights into project progression. It plays a crucial role in the early detection of potential delays or issues, enabling timely interventions for maintaining project timelines.

Transforming Building Safety and Operations

Safety remains a top priority in the building industry, and our new task management feature is engineered to uphold this principle. By facilitating meticulous tracking of safety-related tasks, it ensures adherence to all safety protocols, substantially mitigating risks and upholding regulatory compliance. This latest feature is designed to enhance teamwork and transparency within the organisation. It is not just about building safety; task management also offers a range of advanced features that elevate the entire process of building management.

Embrace the Future of Building Management

The introduction of our task management at Operance marks a new chapter in building operations and safety management. It’s more than a feature; it’s a strategic tool designed to empower teams, enhance safety protocols, and drive operational excellence by providing a streamlined task assignment and management platform that enables teams to work more efficiently and cohesively. This feature ensures that every team member is on the same page, with clear objectives and deadlines, fostering a more productive and focused work environment.

New Interface

Our new interface provides users with the best of both worlds…

What’s better, a light-based user interface or a darker one?

The answer is not so simple and whilst the question should be focused on pure usabiity, we cannot get away from the fact dark modes are very much a trend at the moment.

Some interfaces are designed with brand and trend in mind, usually aligned with whether the platform looks ‘fresh’. The most successful platforms however are designed with the end-user in mind, concentrating on critical factors: like whether or not it will improve usability.

Readability: even diametric opposites such as black-on-white or white-on-black have their pros and cons. For most cases, black text on a light UI remains the most readable. However, while this is the most readable, it also can cause fatigue for long periods of time. That is why text-heavy interfaces where the user will be reading for extended periods of time often opt for a dark background with light text. It is still readable, but it will not strain the eyes as much as its inverse.

User Environment: this refers to both where and when the user is interfacing with the platform. The ‘when’ can be simplified as day or night, dark interfaces are ideal for nighttime or evening environments, whereas lighter ones are suited for the daytime. The harsh bright light of a smartphone can cause discomfort when viewed in a dark room, such as a plant room for instance and the muted aesthetic of a dark UI will not show up as well in a brightly lit area.

To switch between light and dark mode is simple and can even be automated depending on your mobile device.;

  1. Manual: Access your devices settings, go to ‘Display & Brightness’ and choose between light or dark mode (light mode is generally set as standard). That’s it, open the Operance app and you’ll see the change. Again, depending on your device, you may have a shortcut to your light and dark mode settings as part of your screen lock menu.
  2. Automated: Access your device settings, again, go to Display & Brightness and just below or nearby to your light and dark mode settings you should find an ‘Automatic’ toggle switch, switch this on and your phone will detect when the light is dropping and therefore turn dark mode on for you each day, switching back to light mode as the sun rises.

Again, the above may and almost certainly will vary depending on your mobile device, but the instructions shouldn’t be too far off the point either way!
