Role

You will be joining a close-knit, self-motivated, high-performance software development team. The role of the Software Developer is primarily to produce high-quality software solutions to tackle some of the construction industry’s leading challenges in digitising estates. You will be responsible for building and maintaining code with an emphasis on best practices for security and maintainability including the use of design patterns and clean code and architecture including SOLID principles.

In addition to writing code, you will be required to collaborate on the writing of functional requirements by suggesting technical feasibility and potential implementations and alternatives. The team operates as an agile Scrum team so all members are expected to participate in regular planning and retrospective meetings to maintain a healthy backlog.

Team

We are a growing team of software developers and work closely with product managers and stakeholders within the wider business. The team looks after all the software products in the Operance suite including the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) manual and Facilities Management (FM) apps.
The team is distributed globally with a talented core here in the Hull HQ office and with remote working, this trend is set to continue.

Responsibilities

  • Building new features and Bug fixing including larger and more time-critical features/bugs
  • Reviewing the work of colleagues
  • Take part in planning and retrospective meetings
  • Take an active role in personal development
  • Assist with technical analysis
  • Work closely with stakeholders to identify requirements
  • Provide technical input at design meetings
  • Maintain and improve code quality including architectural and style improvements
  • Be part of a high-performance, collaborative team

Skills & Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in the industry in a related role
  • Enthusiasm for the discipline
  • Eager to learn with a track record of independent personal development
  • Effective communicator (written and spoken English)
  • Applied knowledge of:
    • OOP design patterns
    • Version control with Git
    • Agile Scrum Development Methodology
    • Code quality and the SOLID principles
    • Databases + database design (SQL & NoSQL)
  • Demonstrable coding ability via GitHub or a similar public repository
  • Experience working as part of a development team
  • Experience with Front-End web frameworks: Dart with Flutter preferred else JavaScript with React or similar will be considered
